Culinary Delights and Scenic Drives Near Pune

This place offers great food and a healing touch, every time I visit

It was on the morning of 03rd Jan, our first road trip of the new year. A short one, and it had to special. My wife was visiting for the 1st time.

A slightly delayed start at 9 am from our residence about 70 odd kms away was quite in the books. I mean, what else can we expect? A cold & lazy Saturday morning. Wading through the traffic ( it was already buzzing) we closely monitored the map on the car to reach the approach road crossing over the Mumbai Bengaluru expressway into the lap of nature. The beautiful and busy town of pirangut and further onto the lap of Mulshi.

Its quite a site, wide roads (recently the road widening activity looks to have been completed, post my visit about 2 months away) on the lap of the western ghats meandering its way through the mountains. If you love mountains and more so if you love a mountain drive, this is one trip you must take if you stay anywhere in or close to Pune and Mumbai.

About 20 mins, and you look right is the Mulshi dam on your way through the bends of Tamini Ghat. Oh what a sigh to behold.

It is a photographers’ delight. I am not much of one and so is my wife who is silent traveler, eager to experience more through the eyes than the lens of a camera. So much so, that I often mistake her to have fallen asleep.

A further little more and you reach Quick Bite, A resort and eatery by the mushi dam area that satiates the heart.

Yes, that delayed start cost a South-Indian breakfast by 5 mins. We resorted to Italian, and a glass of fresh lime water to fill our hunger and a seat for the lake view to fill our heart.

That's me :)

  1. […] Half an acre of land with a 4 bedroom 3 storey building, enough to sleep all 16 of us with a pool table on the roof. A large dinning area, Swimming pool and a small deck for DJ. Quite some party place. The ground was sufficient for a bit of cricket which all of us enjoyed. The evening duely filled in for our party, food and dance. A great end to a lovely day. This reminded me of another travel experience. […]
